If you are a Verizon retiree, or are considering retiring, this memo should help you to better understand upcoming costs and increases associated with Pre-2008 Pre-Medicare retirees. Be aware that the HRA option, if selected, locks you in for the year, and you will not be able to switch plans until the following year's enrollment. Also, the HRA is available as a supplemental option. If you have other coverage through a spouse's employer's health care plan, veteran's benefits, or another qualifying health plan, you can utilize the account for covered expenses such as prescription drug copays or any out-of-pocket costs that would be covered under the eligibility rules.
